There are a couple of older books by Michael Resnik and Richard Jeffrey, but does anyone know if there's anything more up-to-date? Get an education in game theory and the thoughts [Technion-Israel Institute of Technology]; Decisions, Games, and Rational Choice: Get the foundations and philosophical applications of decision theory through this course. Mithras was important because he was the god of choice for the Roman alpha male and his rites and cults were remarkably similar to more recent secret societies. I'm teaching a decision theory course in the Fall, and I'm trying to figure out what, if any, textbook to use. There are many I've also used parts of “Notes on the Theory of Choice” by David Kreps and parts of “Lecture Notes in Microeconomic Theory: The Economic Agent” by Ariel Rubinstein. Collective Choice Theory is the theory of how one selects a rule to go from a set of individual preference orders over alternatives available to a society of those individuals to a collective or social preference order over those same alternatives. [Or , as they say There is a long history of debates about how to make social or collective decisions, going back at least two and a half millennia in the West.
